House of Love Scrap Gown

House of Love Scrap Gown

“Can a bird sing only the song it knows, or can it learn a new song?”

Inspired by the haunting vision of the countess wandering her crumbling manse in Angela Carters “The Lady of the House of Love” this gown is made out of 6 months worth of scrap material. With each piece I make material is wasted, I gather it all and sort it by type and color and when I have enough I’m able to make something like this! each scrap gown is unique as every single fragment has to be carefully selected. The skirt has three ties of gathering in the skirt each layer is three times as full as the one above. the bottom circumference exceeds 13 feet.
